Records of the Carruthers Family, compiled by A. Stanley Carruthers (b. 1902) and R. C. Reid, is the definitive book on the Carruthers family origination and genealogy. Only 100 copies of this book were published when it was first produced in 1933. In an effort to share the results of this compilation with a wider audience doing research on the Carruthers, Carothers, Caruthers, etc. family lines, the current owner of the rights to this book has graciously given permission to publish the contents of the book on this web site.
While xerox copies of some pages have been included here since September, 2008, the entire book has now been produced in manageable sizes of PDF documents, along with the genealogy charts, and their updates made by the author.
Additionally, you should be sure to review the pages of corrections that the Reverend Carruthers sent in 1958 to the subscribers of the book. Those are listed here in the Appendix, Additions and Changes section of the book.
We have taken the liberty of arranging the sections available here in alphabetical order, rather than the order that the author presented in the book. Additionally, since the document made available to us contained 2 pages of the book to every one page of the PDF document, the page numbers listed in the Index of Places and Persons are not accurate. The book's Index still does provide a quick reference to places and people named within the book. We encourage you to use that information and put whichever words on which you would like to perform a search, into the Carothers-Carruthers.com site search process.
